Peak of Chiukhi Massif

The Chiukhi rocky massif is situated in far south of Eastern Caucasus. It is an isolated rocky massif with two small glaciers. The massif is not distinguished for its altitude (the highest peak is of 3650m), but there are lots of technical itineraries for amateur as well as professional climbers and mountaineers. Due to its location the trek to the massif does not involve lots of energy and time. The Chiukhi massif is situated on the border of three regions of Georgia – Khevi, Khevsureti and Gudamakari and it is pierced into the territory of Georgia from the borders of Russia and Georgia (Caucasus Mountains).

Peak - Takaishvili

Location: Khevsureti Region

Elevation: 3500m

Difficulty rating: Medium “amateur”

Day 1: Arrival. Meeting at Tbilisi International Airport. Transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Drive to northward of Georgia up to the village Juta (Sno Gorge) via Jvari Pass (2350 m above sea level); 2-3 hours walk to the camping lodge located at the approaches to the peaks of Chiukhi Massif (from Khevi side). Overnight in tents.  

Day 3: Acclimatization (rock climbing trainings, bouldering)

Day 4: Climbing to the peak Takaishvili (3500m above sea level). Return to the camping lodge at the same day.

Day 5: Walk back to Juta. Drive to Tbilisi.

Day 6: Departure.
