Tbilisi-Mtskheta-Shiomgvime

Tour begins from Tbilisi. City highlights include: Mountain Mtatsminda, church of Father David and pantheon of famous writers and public figures, old districts of Tbilisi, fortress Narikala, Sioni Cathedral (6th-7th centuries), Metekhi church (13th c.), Sameba (St Trinity) Cathedral on mountain Elia.

Tour is continued in Mtskheta – an ancient city of Georgia and a capital of the Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from 3^rd century BC to 5^th century AD. Here Georgians accepted Christianity in 317. Mtskheta highlights include: Jvari Monastery (VI-VII centuries), Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (XI century), Nunnery.

After Mtskheta, visit to Shiomgvime Monastery (VI century) founded by Shio - one of the thirteen Syrian Fathers. The complex comprises cave-church, churchyard of Shio, refectory, Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and main church of St. John the Baptist.
